My story began when the need to provide dawned on me. My then wife and I were expecting our daughter and the urge to find and get a job was increasing day by day. In a perfect world, I would simply use my skills in information technology to make money. But you see, it not that easy to find and apply for a job or an offer. And as many of us know, there weren’t that many freelancers back in 2008, add to that the crappy internet access that we all have. But I never lost faith in what I was doing. I graduated from the university not with a technical skill, but as a nurse. I then decided to pursue my dream, that is to build businesses with comprehensive systems. I started out on MMORPGs, a kind of game where you interact with other people. I had a killing in selling without any school background in programming, it just came naturally to me. That kicked off and paved the way in creating an income stream for me. Another opportunity came when facebook launched globally. We were all there, tending to our farms and crops in farmville, not knowing facebook would be the next hit. This gave an opening to one of the best moments of our lives. We launched our ecommerce store in facebook and became a hit. An update overnight obliterated the shop, and I was back to square one upon waking up.
Finding Another Way To Make Money — Meeting Freelancers, Learning The Ropes And Realizing What Was Important
I was already in a place where my life was changing and in a snap, everything was gone. I decided to put destiny in my hands. I asked my parents for help and they lent me money to help birth another venture, my freelancing career. Through a friend I met someone from where I saw that working remotely was not just possible, but was lucrative. We didn’t get along, reason why I went to a different path which gave a chance for me to meet my mentor, which I am eternally grateful for. This experience exposed me to the different channels for educating myself like lynda.com, which is now linkedin learning. I phased and bide my time to study, enhance my skills and add complementary knowledge to my skillset. My work load became heavier and my mentor mentioned that if I can train people to do what I do, I can increase five time the output. That sparked an idea and that was the beginning of our digital marketing agency. As a result of good performance, we grew our customer base and closed new clients. We had a successful run for almost a decade and then the pandemic came and it brought us to our knees and eventually to an abrupt halt along with our friends in the telecommunication industry. I stepped back and contemplated what matters. I took a shot in nursing, and from here I realized my calling, not just for healthcare, but for sharing the wealth of knowledge I accumulated in the past 2 decades of my life.
